Get your work out in and then lavish in a mellow float back to the river put-in point. This tour requires a moderate amount of upper body physical strength and cardiovascular ability. This tour only operates in mid to late-Summer and Fall when the Animas River is not at a high flow rate. There is something to be said about putting in some work on an adventure; it's like it feeds the Soul, or maybe it’s just the endorphins released from repetitive effort. Either way it’s good living in our book! This tour is designed to put in the work up front, and then lavish in the surrounding natural beauty as we let the river do the work and casually float back down. Many of our SUPs are able to convert into a kayak-like mode, with a backrest to lean against, and an extra paddle blade to make for a double-sided kayak paddle. Most people find this to be noticeably easier when paddling upstream. The world gets quieter when we travel upstream. More birds, more peace, more views, but more work. You earn your epic pics on this tour! No previous SUP or kayak experience necessary. (MINIMUM AGE: 8 years old)

Additional Tour Details
This tour does require a moderate amount of upper body strength. We will be paddling rather consistently for the first 1-1.5 hours. There will be a few different eddies we can catch and relax for a bit on our way up stream. If you would like to bring your 8+ year olds on the adventure, we have a few paddle boards that are large enough to accommodate an adult and child. We also have small child-size paddleboards for the little adventurers, but it is a fair amount of upstream paddling. It is not crazy hard, but does require consistent effort. If booking as a Private Tour your group can call it good whenever, and we will find an eddie in the river to enjoy some snacks before letting the river do the work for the rest of the tour. In general, and on Mixed Group Tours we paddle upstream for around 1.25 hours and then float back down for about 45 minutes, with some breaks on the way up and at the turnaround spot. Your guide will instruct and demonstrate how to paddle from a kneeling position, standing position, remounting your board if (and when) you fall in, and how to convert your SUP and paddle into kayak-mode. It is also required that you know how to swim and are able to swim up to 30 ft with a PFD on in order to book this tour. Guides will have a throw-rope with them at all times, and will assist in any way they are needed. Please let your guide know ahead of time if you want the extra items to potentially convert your SUP into kayak-mode and we will be sure to pack enough for anyone that wants them. There are bathrooms/changing rooms at the river put-in, and we recommend using them as we will not have another option besides the river until we get back. Location
The tour puts in on the Animas River at Oxbow Park & Preserve on the north end of town. We paddle upstream into a beautiful serene setting where the land on either side of the river is private. Due to this we are required to stay on our boards and utilize eddies for breaks rather than pulling onto shore. This section of the Animas River is located at about 6,500ft in elevation, which for many traveling from out of town is great for acclimatization compared to the high elevation trails around 10,000ft! This makes for a great adventure day earlier on in your trip before you go exploring in the big mountains nearby.

- Do I need to have good physical fitness to do this tour? 
You need to have a moderate level of physical fitness to do this tour. You need to have the cardiovascular ability and physical strength to be rather consistently paddling for 1-1.5 hours, with little breaks along the way. Most guests find the tour to be a nice challenge to slowly work their way upstream. It is also required that you know how to swim and can swim for up to 30 feet with a PFD on. Your SUP is a large flotation device, and you will be wearing a PFD, but in case you get separated from your SUP, it is required that you know how to swim. It is very important that you fill out the health profile section of the Registration Form with complete accuracy. Not doing so may put yourself, others in the group, and/or the guide at risk of serious injury or even death. Please provide all pertinent health information and let us design a tour that fits you well. 

- Is there a minimum age required to do this tour? 
Yes. Our insurance requires all participants on river tours to be at least 8 years of age. If your little rascals are under 8 years of age and you still want to learn/enjoy time SUPing, you will need to book the Electra Lake Tour. If you are planning to bring your little ones who may need more time or paddle a little slower than your average adult, please book a private tour and your guide will be happy to move at the pace of your family’s needs. If you are not booking a private tour we ask that all guests be able to paddle upstream at a moderate pace for approximately 1-1.5 hours. All Short Exploratory Day Hike Tours take place in the greater Durango area. We use a variety of nearby trails to design the best experience possible for your group. Would you like to hike amongst a more desert-like environment? Rather be deep in the forest?

Want to explore around beautiful rock formations? Let us know what sounds best to you, and we will design a short hike for your group that caters to your desires and fitness levels. The hike will be designed to take an average fitness-leveled group 1.5-2 hours. Guides are usually able to make changes to the route as needed, but they do their best to plan a unique route specific to the group ahead of time. We will have a variety of snacks for you to choose from and a large water jug to top up your water bottles before we hit the trail. We have access to a variety of trail options including Horse Gulch, Overend Mountain Park, Twin Buttes, and Dalla Mountain Park. All of these trails are between 6,600 and 7,400ft in elevation, which for many traveling from out of town is great for acclimatization compared to the high elevation trails around 10,000ft! This makes for a great adventure earlier on in your trip before you go exploring in the big mountains nearby.

Short Exploratory Day Hike: Mixed Group Tour

In a town full of gnarly adventurists, some of us just want a cruisy pedal next to the river with a stop for ice cream. Is that too much to ask for? Not in our book! This tour is made for easy pedaling and taking in the sights. We will start South of town on the paved Animas River Trail and make our way upstream to the Northern end of the trail at Oxbow Park & Preserve. Oxbow is a beautiful little spot to enjoy some snacks, take in the beauty, and soak our feet in the river before we head back down. We’ve got gravity on our side as we pedal our way back down, flowing with the river back to where we started; stopping for some of Durango’s premier organic ice cream (vegan options available) downtown before we finish our ride back to the starting point! This is our easiest biking tour, and recommended to anyone looking for a cruisy ride or who may be newer to biking. All of our guides are longtime bicyclists, who can help adjust your bike to be more comfortable or fix a flat tire on the fly. They are trained in wilderness medicine (WFR certified) and have your safety as their number one priority from start to finish, with the size of your smile as a close second!

Additional Tour Details
The Animas River Trail is an iconic Durango experience. You will find locals of all ages and abilities utilizing sections of this trail to get some movement in and enjoy the sights and sounds of the river. It’s a relatively flat, paved trail, no big hills, but it does have a slight incline most the way when headed North, and a slight decline most the way back South. It gets a little bumpy and rough in spots, but overall it is a nice paved trail. If booking as a Private tour, this tour becomes customizable as well. We can start further North or South on the trail to make it a longer or shorter ride. The usual ride is about 10 miles in total; 5 miles upstream and 5 miles back downstream with a stop at a wonderful, local organic ice cream shop (delicious vegan options available). We can turn around before the park as well, if your group is feeling those calf muscles! It’s totally up to you! Feel free to bring your own bike if you have it with you, otherwise we partner with 2nd Avenue Sports for all of our rental needs at a very reasonable price (not included in the tour price, see additional bike rental rates above). They will have the right bike adjusted to your height and weight ahead of time, and Meraki will pick up the bikes and helmets before the tour. The cruisiest of options! Want to paddle? Cool! Don’t want to paddle? Cool! This tour utilizes the small section of the Animas River on the northside of Durango that does not have any rapids, and makes for a great spot to learn to SUP or just kick back and let the river do all the work as we watch the scenery go by. Depending upon the flow rate of the river, it usually takes 1-1.5 hours to get from the river put-in to the take-out. We add in some extra time to teach people how to SUP, or throw in a river anchor and soak up some rays before getting to the take-out point. Many of our SUPs are able to convert into a kayak-like mode, with a backrest to lean against, and an extra paddle blade to make for a double-sided kayak paddle. Since this short section of The Animas River is the only section that does not have rapids, this is a relatively quick little float. We can make the trip a little shorter by paddling downstream with the current, or make it a little longer by throwing in some river anchors and soaking up some of that Colorado Sun! If you would like to bring your 8+ year olds on the adventure, we have a few paddle boards that are large enough to accommodate an adult and child. We also have small child-size paddleboards for the little adventurers! We will put on the river at Oxbow Park & Preserve, casually float about 1.5 miles down the Animas, and take out just after the bridge on 32nd Street. Due to it being predominantly private land on the sides of the river through this section of the Animas, we will not utilize the river banks to take breaks. This is a really great tour for just some relaxed time on the water, as well as to learn how to SUP or work on your SUP skills. Your guide will instruct and demonstrate how to paddle from a kneeling position, standing position, remounting your board if you fall in, and how to convert your SUP and paddle into kayak-mode. It is also required that you know how to swim and are able to swim up to 30 ft with a PFD on in order to book this tour. Guides will have a throw-rope with them at all times, and will assist in any way they are needed. The tour puts in on the Animas River at Oxbow Park & Preserve on the north end of town. We paddle upstream into a beautiful serene setting where the land on either side of the river is private. Due to this we are required to stay on our boards and utilize eddies for breaks rather than pulling onto shore. This section of the Animas River is located at about 6,500ft in elevation, which for many traveling from out of town is great for acclimatization compared to the high elevation trails around 10,000ft! This makes for a great adventure day earlier on in your trip before you go exploring in the big mountains nearby.

This is our highest recommended SUP tour! Take the day at your own pace, rather than the pace of the river. Electra Lake is a large privately owned, pristine lake, tucked up in the mountains with absolutely stunning views and a few islands to paddle around. The association has a nice boat launch, bathrooms, tables, and we will pack a picnic lunch for our outing. It is great to keep the lake pristine, but unfortunately there is a sometimes lengthy wait to get each of the paddleboards, PFDs, and paddles washed by the person at the gate. Please note that with booking this trip, there might be a .5 - 1 hour wait depending upon the size of your group. That being said, lakes are the best place to learn to SUP, and this one has endless nooks and crannies to explore and stunningly beautiful! Hang out, soak in the beauty, paddle, and explore. This adventure is one you will never forget and the pictures are top-notch! It is also highly customizable from very easy, perfect first-timer routes, to moderate or even hard routes for those that have climbed many times before. For some people getting 5 feet off the ground is an amazing  accomplishment, while others monkey their way all the way to the top. Your SUP is a large flotation device, and you will be wearing a PFD, but in case you get separated from your SUP, it is required that you know how to swim. It is very important that you fill out the health profile section of the Registration Form with complete accuracy. Not doing so may put yourself, others in the group, and/or the guide at risk of serious injury or even death. Please provide all pertinent health information and let us design a tour that fits you well. 

- Is there a minimum age required to do this tour? 
Yes. Our insurance requires all participants on river tours to be at least 8 years of age. If your little rascals are under 8 years of age and you still want to learn/enjoy time SUPing, you will need to book the Electra Lake Tour. If you are planning to bring your little ones who may need more time or paddle a little slower than your average adult, please book a private tour and your guide will be happy to move at the pace of your family’s needs. If you are not booking a private tour we ask that all guests be able to paddle upstream at a moderate pace for approximately 1-1.5 hours. Durango is full of so many amazing mountain biking trails to choose from. Let us do the planning and help your group have the experience you all desire. This tour is highly customizable. We can head to some very beginner-friendly trails, or get after some Durango classic loops! We love being in the saddle and teaching techniques or opening up the terrain and showing you some of our favorite, more advanced trails. Either way we are stoked, and want to support you in having fun and pushing your unique limits. All of our guides are longtime bicyclists, who can help adjust your bike to be more comfortable or fix a flat tire on the fly. They are trained in wilderness medicine (WFR certified) and have your safety as their number one priority from start to finish, with the size of your smile as a close second!

There are so many trails to go ride in Durango, but most of the time it can be quite hard to determine which are the best ones for your family/group. Utilize our vast experiences of ripping these trails, and let us plan a couple-hour ride that will leave you feeling accomplished and stoked on the ground we covered together. We love teaching little tips and tricks to navigate terrain better. We also are happy to leave the tips behind and just open it up on some fantastic single track with guests that have been mountain biking for a while. Let us know your skillset and desires, and we will be happy to curate your group an unforgettable experience. Feel free to bring your own bike if you have it with you, otherwise we partner with 2nd Avenue Sports for all of our rental needs at a very reasonable price (not included in the tour price, see additional bike rental rates above). Their fleet is constantly upgraded, which makes for a really fun ride even if you do have your own bike. They will have the right bike adjusted to your height and weight ahead of time, and Meraki will pick up the bikes and helmets before the tour. We have access to a variety of trail options including The Aqueduct Trail system in Mancos for our most beginner-friendly, to Horse Gulch, Overend Mountain Park, Twin Buttes, and Dalla Mountain Park for those with a bit or lots of experience mountain biking. All of these trails are between 6,600 and 7,400ft in elevation, which for many traveling from out of town is great for acclimatization compared to the high elevation trails around 10,00ft! This makes for a great adventure day earlier on in your trip before you go exploring in the big mountains nearby.

Have you heard about Phil’s World? It’s a pretty cool world to play in! 45 minutes West of town, lies some of the best singletrack trails Southwest Colorado has to offer. The Rib Cage trail is like the mountain bike version of a rollercoaster and will leave you wanting to lap it again and again. Which we absolutely can do if your group wants to! Most of these trails cater to intermediate to advanced riders, so please only book this tour if you have a fair amount of mountain biking experience. Have you heard about Phil’s World? It’s a pretty cool world to play in! 45 minutes West of town, lies some of the best singletrack trails Southwest Colorado has to offer. The Rib Cage trail is like the mountain bike version of a rollercoaster and will leave you wanting to lap it again and again. Which we absolutely can do if your group wants to! Most of these trails cater to intermediate to advanced riders, so please only book this tour if you have a fair amount of mountain biking experience. Lunch is included with this tour, as well as a variety of snacks to put in your pack. All of our guides are longtime bicyclists, who can help adjust your bike to be more comfortable or fix a flat tire on the fly. They are trained in wilderness medicine (WFR certified) and have your safety as their number one priority from start to finish, with the size of your smile as a close second!

These trails are insanely fun. We would love to show you some of our favorites and snap some great pics of you flying through the Rib Cage! The trail system is large and complex, so let us know your group’s experience level, desires, skillset, and we will plan a day out that best fits your group. This tour also includes lunch from Durango Natural Foods which utilizes local and organic ingredients wherever possible, and has some of the best sandwiches in town. Phil’s World Trail System is located East of Cortez, Colorado; about 45 minutes drive from downtown Durango. Phil’s World is located at about 6,400 ft, which for many traveling from out of town is great for acclimatization compared to the high elevation trails around 10,00ft! This makes for a great adventure day earlier on in your trip before you go exploring in the big mountains nearby.

Beat the heat and rent a Stand Up Paddle Board (AKA SUP) for 3 hours and float the calm section of the Animas River. This easy outdoor adventure starts with a 20 minute walk along the Animas River Trail from 32nd Street bridge (park here) to Oxbow Park. ROLL will meet you at Oxbow with inflated SUPs and a catered gourmet picnic lunch for you to enjoy on the beach either before or after your paddle, depending on your start time. Make a day of it! ROLL delivers eBikes to you at 32nd Street and E 3rd Ave., then hop on your eBikes and tour the Animas River Trail for 2.5 hours ending at Oxbow Park. Day-long SUP Rental

Get your work out in and then lavish in a mellow float back to the river put-in point. This tour requires a moderate amount of upper body physical strength and cardiovascular ability. This tour only operates in mid to late-Summer and Fall when the Animas River is not at a high flow rate. There is something to be said about putting in some work on an adventure; it's like it feeds the Soul, or maybe it’s just the endorphins released from repetitive effort. Either way it’s good living in our book! This tour is designed to put in the work up front, and then lavish in the surrounding natural beauty as we let the river do the work and casually float back down. Many of our SUPs are able to convert into a kayak-like mode, with a backrest to lean against, and an extra paddle blade to make for a double-sided kayak paddle. Most people find this to be noticeably easier when paddling upstream. The world gets quieter when we travel upstream. More birds, more peace, more views, but more work. You earn your epic pics on this tour! No previous SUP or kayak experience necessary. (MINIMUM AGE: 8 years old)

Additional Tour Details
This tour does require a moderate amount of upper body strength. We will be paddling rather consistently for the first 1-1.5 hours. There will be a few different eddies we can catch and relax for a bit on our way up stream. If you would like to bring your 8+ year olds on the adventure, we have a few paddle boards that are large enough to accommodate an adult and child. We also have small child-size paddleboards for the little adventurers, but it is a fair amount of upstream paddling. It is not crazy hard, but does require consistent effort. If booking as a Private Tour your group can call it good whenever, and we will find an eddie in the river to enjoy some snacks before letting the river do the work for the rest of the tour. In general, and on Mixed Group Tours we paddle upstream for around 1.25 hours and then float back down for about 45 minutes, with some breaks on the way up and at the turnaround spot. Your guide will instruct and demonstrate how to paddle from a kneeling position, standing position, remounting your board if (and when) you fall in, and how to convert your SUP and paddle into kayak-mode. It is also required that you know how to swim and are able to swim up to 30 ft with a PFD on in order to book this tour. Guides will have a throw-rope with them at all times, and will assist in any way they are needed. Please let your guide know ahead of time if you want the extra items to potentially convert your SUP into kayak-mode and we will be sure to pack enough for anyone that wants them. There are bathrooms/changing rooms at the river put-in, and we recommend using them as we will not have another option besides the river until we get back. Paddle Up - Float Down: Private Group Tour

In a town full of gnarly adventurists, some of us just want a cruisy pedal next to the river with a stop for ice cream. Is that too much to ask for? Not in our book! This tour is made for easy pedaling and taking in the sights. We will start South of town on the paved Animas River Trail and make our way upstream to the Northern end of the trail at Oxbow Park & Preserve. Oxbow is a beautiful little spot to enjoy some snacks, take in the beauty, and soak our feet in the river before we head back down. We’ve got gravity on our side as we pedal our way back down, flowing with the river back to where we started; stopping for some of Durango’s premier organic ice cream (vegan options available) downtown before we finish our ride back to the starting point! This is our easiest biking tour, and recommended to anyone looking for a cruisy ride or who may be newer to biking. All of our guides are longtime bicyclists, who can help adjust your bike to be more comfortable or fix a flat tire on the fly. Additional Tour Details
The Animas River Trail is an iconic Durango experience. You will find locals of all ages and abilities utilizing sections of this trail to get some movement in and enjoy the sights and sounds of the river. It’s a relatively flat, paved trail, no big hills, but it does have a slight incline most the way when headed North, and a slight decline most the way back South. It gets a little bumpy and rough in spots, but overall it is a nice paved trail. If booking as a Private tour, this tour becomes customizable as well. We can start further North or South on the trail to make it a longer or shorter ride. The usual ride is about 10 miles in total; 5 miles upstream and 5 miles back downstream with a stop at a wonderful, local organic ice cream shop (delicious vegan options available). We can turn around before the park as well, if your group is feeling those calf muscles! It’s totally up to you! Feel free to bring your own bike if you have it with you, otherwise we partner with 2nd Avenue Sports for all of our rental needs at a very reasonable price (not included in the tour price, see additional bike rental rates above). All Extended Exploratory Day Hike Tours take place in the greater Durango area. We use a variety of nearby trails to design the best experience possible for your group. Looking for the best view of town and want to hike through a high-mountain desert ecosystem? Rather be deep in the ponderosa forest winding up, down, and all around?

Let us know what sounds best to you, and we will design a hike for your group that caters to your desires and fitness levels. No matter what you choose, you can plan on enjoying a delicious lunch with an awesome view! The hike will be designed to take an average fitness-leveled group 3-3.5 hours. Guides are usually able to make changes to the route as needed, but they do their best to plan a unique route specific to the group ahead of time. Location(s)
We have access to a variety of trail options including Horse Gulch, Overend Mountain Park, Twin Buttes, and Dalla Mountain Park. All of these trails are between 6,600 and 7,400ft in elevation, which for many traveling from out of town is great for acclimatization compared to the high elevation trails around 10,000ft! This makes for a great adventure earlier on in your trip before you go exploring in the big mountains nearby.

Extended Exploratory Day Hike: Private Group Tour

The cruisiest of options! Want to paddle? Cool! Don’t want to paddle? Cool! This tour utilizes the small section of the Animas River on the northside of Durango that does not have any rapids, and makes for a great spot to learn to SUP or just kick back and let the river do all the work as we watch the scenery go by. Depending upon the flow rate of the river, it usually takes 1-1.5 hours to get from the river put-in to the take-out. We add in some extra time to teach people how to SUP, or throw in a river anchor and soak up some rays before getting to the take-out point. Many of our SUPs are able to convert into a kayak-like mode, with a backrest to lean against, and an extra paddle blade to make for a double-sided kayak paddle. Let us know what sounds best to you, and we will make it a great little outing!

Additional Tour Details
Since this short section of The Animas River is the only section that does not have rapids, this is a relatively quick little float. We can make the trip a little shorter by paddling downstream with the current, or make it a little longer by throwing in some river anchors and soaking up some of that Colorado Sun! If you would like to bring your 8+ year olds on the adventure, we have a few paddle boards that are large enough to accommodate an adult and child. We also have small child-size paddleboards for the little adventurers! We will put on the river at Oxbow Park & Preserve, casually float about 1.5 miles down the Animas, and take out just after the bridge on 32nd Street. Due to it being predominantly private land on the sides of the river through this section of the Animas, we will not utilize the river banks to take breaks. This is a really great tour for just some relaxed time on the water, as well as to learn how to SUP or work on your SUP skills. Your guide will instruct and demonstrate how to paddle from a kneeling position, standing position, remounting your board if you fall in, and how to convert your SUP and paddle into kayak-mode. It is also required that you know how to swim and are able to swim up to 30 ft with a PFD on in order to book this tour. Guides will have a throw-rope with them at all times, and will assist in any way they are needed. Please let your guide know ahead of time if you want the extra items to potentially convert your SUP into kayak-mode and we will be sure to pack enough for anyone that wants them. There are bathrooms/changing rooms at the river put-in, and we recommend using them as we will not have another option besides the river until we get back. The tour puts in on the Animas River at Oxbow Park & Preserve on the north end of town. We paddle upstream into a beautiful serene setting where the land on either side of the river is private. Due to this we are required to stay on our boards and utilize eddies for breaks rather than pulling onto shore. This section of the Animas River is located at about 6,500ft in elevation, which for many traveling from out of town is great for acclimatization compared to the high elevation trails around 10,000ft! This makes for a great adventure day earlier on in your trip before you go exploring in the big mountains nearby.

You need to have a moderate level of physical fitness to do this tour. You need to have the cardiovascular ability and physical strength to be rather consistently paddling for 1-1.5 hours, with little breaks along the way. Most guests find the tour to be a nice challenge to slowly work their way upstream. It is also required that you know how to swim and can swim for up to 30 feet with a PFD on. Your SUP is a large flotation device, and you will be wearing a PFD, but in case you get separated from your SUP, it is required that you know how to swim.
