eXplore Brown County at Valley Branch Retreat is located in historic, scenic, southern Brown County, Indiana. We offer over 500 acres of year-round adventure featuring: zip line canopy tours, paintball, off-road vehicle tours, arrow tag, mountain biking, hiking trails, camping, and cabins. Extend your adventure; stay in one of our rustic camping cabins, all with heat and AC. Our campground features primitive and full-hook-up sites. Rowboats and canoes are available to rent on our 4-acre fishing lake.

Rules

Check-in Procedure - Check-in time: 2 pm | Check-out time: 11 am | High occupancy levels may delay check-in times. - During peak periods, late checkouts will not be honored. - We will try to accommodate late arrivals, but may not always be able to do so. - Accommodations may include but are not limited to, switching to a later tour time or switching to a different type of tour during the same day. - Please call as soon as it is clear to you that you will be late. - Each guest is required to register and sign in at the office. - Day visitors of cabin guests must register at the office and pay a $5 fee per guest. - An electronic waiver must be completed for every guest/visitor. - Waivers can be found at any office. - Call to make arrangements for after-hours check-in. - While each park attempts to accommodate your exact spot request, the on-site manager has the ultimate decision for spot placement. Vehicle - Parking is only available next to your rented cabin Quiet Hours - Quiet hours are in effect from midnight to 7 am and no vehicle traffic is allowed after 10 pm. Speed Limit - The speed limit at all times is 5 mph. - We ask that there be no campground traffic after 10 pm. Smoking - All cabins are non-smoking Cabin - Each cabin has one picnic table. - Turn off the heating/cooling system and all lights. - Leave keys in a cabin with the door unlocked. - There is a $20 fee for lost keys and/or excessive cleaning in your cabin. Children - Children must be supervised at all times. - No one under 18 years of age is permitted to stay overnight in a cabin without an adult present. Pets - Pets are permitted at XBC in accordance with our pet policy, Our camp dogs are sociable. - At eXplore Brown County we understand that many people travel with their pets. - We are now welcoming pets with the following guidelines in place: - There is a campground dog that lives on the property named Barney. - He is very friendly with humans and dogs and is allowed to roam freely. - Please keep this in mind when considering bringing your pet. - The 6-foot leash rule applies to the entire property and to all pets. - The only time your pet may be off the leash is inside your camper, tent, or vehicle. - This includes pets traveling with mountain bikers and hikers. - If it's not possible to keep your pet on a 6-foot leash, the best and safest option is for your pet to stay at home. - Your pet is a guest but the wildlife lives here. - Please respect wildlife and plant life. - Follow the 6-foot leash rule to protect wildlife, other people, and your pet. - Please pick up after your pet. - Animal waste can contain parasites. - The hiker behind you and the camper who follows you at the site do not want to step in pet waste. - Buy waste bags at your pet store or bring plastic grocery bags. - If you are hiking, pick up the waste and carry it out. - When cleaning your campsite before leaving, remove all pet waste and place the bags in the campground dumpster. - Double bagging is helpful. - Campground quiet hours (12 a.m. – 7 a.m.) apply to all guests, including pets. - If your dog barks excessively at your campsite, particularly during quiet hours, we may ask that you take your pet home. - Explore Brown County is not the place for territorial pets. - If your pet is highly dominant or aggressive, please leave your animal at home in familiar territory. - Explore Brown County is not liable if your pet bites another guest or injures another guest's pet. - When you go exploring, please take your pet with you. Keep your pet with you at all times. - Do not leave your pet tied up at a campsite or locked in a car. - Your pet’s vaccinations must be up-to-date. - This protects your pet from other pets (or wildlife) that may not be in perfect health. - You may be asked to provide proof of this. - You will be required to pay a pet fee per pet. - You can bring a maximum of 2 pets. - You agree to pay for any damages caused by your pet(s) This includes injuries to another guest and/or their pets as well as damages to Explore Brown County property or another guest's property. - No pets will be allowed during events. - Only service animals will be allowed during events. Firearms and Fireworks - Absolutely no firearms, fireworks, or weapons of any kind are permitted. Trash - Properly dispose of your trash in the provided containers, We recycle! Help us keep our planet green. - There is a dumpster located across from the red barn as you exit on your left. - A $20 fee will be charged for not recycling, burning toxins in the campfire ring, or leaving trash around the cabin. - We recycle – All cans, glass, and plastics #1 & #2 are to be placed in recycling containers. - All trash, both inside and outside, must be bagged and placed in a dumpster. - Leave the area cleaner than you found it. Gray Water Disposal - No gray water should be released on site; a dump station is located by site #1. Campfire - Fires are only permitted in approved fire rings. - Due to an Emerald Ash Borer insect infestation threat, you are not permitted to bring firewood into the campground. - We sell approved firewood. - Campfires are permitted in designated areas only – you may not bring wood into the facility due to state infestation regulations. - Wood is available onsite | $15 per wheelbarrow | $7.50 armload. Emergency - Report any emergencies, issues, or complaints to the parking attendant (knock on the door of Cabin 11 located behind Site 4). - When the attendant is unavailable, or in extreme emergencies, contact the Sheriff's Department. - The phone number is posted on all campground bulletin boards. - Please check our website to see what time our office closes. Damages or Theft - Guests are responsible for any damages or theft, which must be reported to the office prior to checking out. - We are not responsible for the loss of any personal items, accidents, or other occurrences that may happen during your stay. Behavior - We are a family park: Appropriate conduct is required at all times. - You must be 21 in order to consume alcoholic beverages. - Loud, rowdy, or other inappropriate behavior will result in your removal from the campground without a refund. No Glass Containers - Glass containers are not permitted in the campground area due to safety issues. Campsite Limit - The rates for sites include up to 4 guests, additional charges will apply for additional guests. - Your campsite may have two (2) vehicles, one wheeled camping unit plus one tent, or two tents. - RV sites are limited to one wheeled unit only; tent sites are limited to 2 tents only with the exception of group camping. - All vehicles and camping equipment must fit on the designated site. Utility Hook Ups - Water and electric hookups are available at a limited number of camping sites. - Verify the site before making your final reservations. - Water is shut off from November 1 - April 1. Visitors to Campers - Visitors must register at the main office before entering the campground. - Visitors must park completely within the campsite or provided parking lots. - Additional fees apply for day visitors and overnight camping guests. Prohibited Activity - Guests of the campground are not permitted to climb trees or access any of the zip line towers and rappelling equipment. - Campers may hike and/or bike only on designated trails. - Anyone found tampering, climbing, or playing on any of the activities' equipment will be asked to immediately leave the park and will be charged a $100 fine. - Pets, all-terrain vehicles, go-carts, or scooters are not permitted in the campground area (call the office for exceptions). - Alcoholic beverages may only be consumed by adults of legal age over 21; absolutely no firearms, fireworks, or weapons of any kind are permitted. Disclaimer - We want your visit to be a positive experience. - We ask that all guests read and understand our policies before booking a cabin. - All of our cabins are rustic and do not have inside plumbing. - There is a public restroom and shower house within walking distance of the cabins. - Please note: we are not responsible for electrical outages due to acts of God, no refunds based on weather.

Cancellation Policy

STRICT If the guest cancels at least 1 week before your check-in day and time, they will receive a 50% refund (minus Spot2Nite convenience or resort fees). If the guest cancels within 1 week before check-in, there will be no refund.
